CMO’s new team structure provides foundation for success

CMO Group PLC, the UK’s largest online only retailer of building materials, has made a number of senior promotions as part of its ongoing commitment to strengthening its customer service offering by developing talent from within.

Overseeing all nine of CMO’s online SUPERSTORES with a focus on generating sales and developing the company’s extensive product offering are Turrou Landesmann and Darren Whelpton-Smith who have been appointed as CMO’s new directors of trading. Both Turrou and Darren have extensive experience and knowledge of the company’s varied product channels which include roofing and insulation materials, doors, tiles, landscaping and gardening products, specialist drainage solutions, plus fix and second fix plumbing supplies and sanitaryware.

Katie Knapman has also been promoted to the role of director of customer acquisition, having previously headed up CMO’s SEO and ecommerce activities. An experienced marketeer, Katie first joined CMO back in 2015 as an apprentice marketing executive and has successfully risen through the ranks to play a vital role in driving customers to the different SUPERSTORES cost-effectively through paid, organic and affiliate channels. Katie is not only a successful graduate of a CMO apprenticeship, but also plays a key role in the research and development of new business streams including the recently launched LANDSCAPING SUPERSTORE which contributed to CMO recognised with the Business Expansion award at the 2024 DIY Week Awards.

Adding strength to CMO’s internal processes and supporting its expanding workforce is Amy Hatswell who has been appointed as the new director of human resources. Amy has been with CMO since 2017 and in her new senior role will support both CMO’s new and existing team members and the company’s commitment to wellbeing, training and development, diversity and inclusion, and employee engagement.

The new senior team structure demonstrates CMO’s commitment to supporting the development of talent and career growth across its existing teams to better respond to future opportunities for growth. The promotions also follow an exciting period of expansion for CMO which has seen the online retailer launch the new LANDSCAPING SUPERSTORE, complete a full rebrand of all its stores and extend the product offering of PLUMBING SUPERSTORE.
